Anita Ulrich

Anita Marie Ulrich, 92, of Estero and formerly of Sanibel, died on Nov. 20, 2009 at the Life Care Center of Estero. She was 92.

She was born on Oct. 24, 1917 in Jersey City, N.J. one of nine children of Alberto and Veronica (Bernardi) Politi. A resident of Estero for the past 15 years, she previously lived on Sanibel for 11 years moving from Upper Saddle River, N.J.

Anita was employed from 1939 to 1957 as a secretary for the Colacurcio Construction Company in Jersey City, N.J. She was a member of the Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River, N.J. and taught CCD for several years. An avid hand quilter, she was a member of the Upper Saddle River quilters; secretary for the Friends of the Library in Upper Saddle River and a member of the Westwood Women's Club in Westwood, N.J. and a Secretary for the Planning Board in Washington Township, N.J.

She was a member of Our Lady of Light Catholic Church, Estero, formerly a member of St. Isabel's Catholic Church on Sanibel and a member of the Stonecroft Friendship Bible Studies on Sanibel.

She is survived by her husband of 75 years, Robert Ulrich, her daughter, Barbara Ann (Frank) Cassavell of Sanibel, "GG" to her five grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was the grandmother of the late Frank G. Cassavell, who died in 1996.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Jan. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Isabel's Catholic Church, located at 3559 Sanibel Captiva Road on Sanibel. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made to the NTAF Atlantic Heart Transplant Fund (in the name of Cheryl Neiman) online at www.transplantfund.org or by mail to 150 N.
