Justine Smith

Justine Patterson Smith passed away on June 21, 2010 at the Hope Hospice facility in Fort Myers after a long illness. 





Mrs. Smith was born on Aug. 20, 1928 in New York, N.Y. She was employed at the Cornell Institute for Autocar Injury Research for many years before moving to Maine, where she resided for over 30 years. She worked for Avon as a manager and managed her own telemarketing business. 





Moving to Sanibel in 2004, she worked part-time for the City of Sanibel at the


Center 4 Life. She retired from that position in 2007. Justine was an avid bridge player and, since retiring, directed the bridge program and also was a bridge instructor.





Justine is survived by four children, Joshua Groupp, Douglas Groupp, Noah Smith and Sarah Smith White, a stepson, Tristan Smith, and her sister, Deborah Butler. In addition, she is survived by her daughters-in-law, Sally Groupp and Terry Groupp and son-in-law, Edward White. She has eight grandchildren: Nathan Groupp, Alleia Groupp, Alison Groupp, Emily Groupp, Austin Groupp, Kayla Smith, Ariana White, and Dante Smith White.
