November 30, 2010
Barbara Kay O’Neill (nee Heidemann) of Fort Myers died peacefully at Hope Hospice on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 after a courageous six-year battle with cancer. She was 58.
Barbara was born in Clear Lake, S.D. on March 20, 1952 and although she spent the last 25 years in Florida, she remained a small town South Dakota girl at heart. Barb was a precious and beautiful gift to all who were fortunate enough to meet her.
Along with the memory of her blue eyes and beautiful smile, she leaves behind a rare kindness, gentle nature and quiet courage that will guide the lives of, not only her husband, children, and great grandchildren, but all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Barbara O’Neill was the loving wife of Michael O’Neill of Fort Myers, the devoted mother of Jon Clausen of Grand Rapids, Mich., Sarah Clausen of Denver, Colo., Jamie Hinks of Fort Myers, and Karissa Hinks of Orlando, Fla. She was also the adoring grandmother of Justine and Alivia and the faithful sister of Sandy Heidemann of Minneapolis, Minn. and David Heidemann of Milbank, S.D.
Funeral services will take place at the American Lutheran Church in Castlewood, S.D. on Dec. 18, 2010. Interment will be at the Lutheran Cemetery in Brandt, S.D. There will also be a memorial service for family and friends in Florida at Saint Columbkille in Fort Myers on her birthday in March 2011.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for Hope Hospice in Fort Myers. Online condolences can be made at www.fortmyersmemorial.com
