Time Zone by Congress Jewelers on Sanibel Island has become one of 300 retailers worldwide and the only in Lee County to carry ToyWatch, a line of Italian-made chronograph wristwatches in hot colors and cool styles.
“Marco Mavilla designed the first ToyWatch in Milan late 2005,” said Time Zone proprietor Scot Congress. “The lightweight, oversized plastic watch was described as unexpected, arresting and irreverent. When ToyWatch arrived in the U.S. in 2006, it became an anti-luxury statement in a luxury-obsessed culture.”
Since then, ToyWatch has become the “it” wristwatch and must-have item among style influentials, including Oprah Winfrey, who included ToyWatch on one of her favorite-things lists in O, The Oprah Magazine.
Time Zone offers a fun, fashion-forward collection of watches priced from $50 to $1,500, including models by Swiss Military, Invicta, Ed Hardy, Ice, Danish Design, Gucci and Techno Marine. Time Zone by Congress Jewelers, in Periwinkle Place next door to the original Chico’s, is open 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon until 5 p.m. Sunday.
