Roger Cogswell (83 gross) and Dan Keys (78 gross) both shot their career rounds at Beachview Golf Club on March 26. Both scores netted out at 56, tying them with fellow members Bill Featherston and Rene Lohser for the low net rounds of the 2010/2011 season.
"Did I really shoot 83?" Cogswell asked when told of his score.
"I'm thrilled." Keys, who shot even par on the back nine for his 78, quipped. "Gee, that guy doesn't usually show up!"
If no one comes in below 56 on Tuesday, there will be a four-way tie for the coveted Low Net award.
The team of reigning club champion Bill Stell, Guy Tober, David Lewis and Tom Golatzi won the best two net balls of four tournament with a score of 103. Team captain Stell refused all comment.
Jim Mulka, Dave Bugby, Rene Lohser and David Smith finished second at 104 while Bob Cushman, Roger Cogswell and John Boynton finished third at 105, with an assist from "blind draw" partner Lohser.
The year-end Beachview Men's Golf Club cocktail party is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 31 at Beachview Steakhouse and Tavern. Club championship, FedEx Cup and other awards will be presented, and outgoing association president Bill Fellows will pass the ceremonial putter on to incoming "czar," Jay Allen.
Incoming president Jay Allen, left, congratulates Dan Keys on his career round last week.
