Special to the REPORTER , Island Reporter, Captiva Current, Sanibel-Captiva Islander

The Fort Myers Miracle will open the 2012 season in Charlotte on Thursday, April 5, with the home opener at Hammond Stadium on Friday, April 6 hosting the Stone Crabs at 7:05 p.m.

The 2012 season will celebrate the team's 20th anniversary of baseball in Southwest Florida with an alternate home uniform dedicated to the original Miracle look in 1992, which featured a teal and gold color scheme.

"Our schedule is finalized earlier than it's ever been. That gives our fans the ability to plan ahead, and it also allows groups plenty of time to prepare for their 2012 outings at Hammond Stadium," said Miracle General Manager Steve Gliner. "We are excited that our schedule allows us to continue to create that buzz around the ballpark that is synonymous with Miracle Baseball."

Seven fireworks shows light up the schedule, including two on Independence Day Weekend.

Start times for games at Hammond Stadium in 2012 are 7:05 p.m. for games Monday through Friday and fireworks dates on May 26, July 28 and Sept. 1. All other Saturday games will begin at 6:05 p.m. Sunday games begin at 1:05 p.m., with the exception of June 24, July 1 and July 15 which will start at 4:05 p.m.

Ticket prices for 2012 remain the same: $8.50 ($9.50 for fireworks nights) for Box Seats/Drink Rail Seating and $6.50 ($7.50 for fireworks nights) for General Admission/Lawn Seating sections.

The Miracle's schedule is a split season schedule consisting of 140 games, with two 70 game halves. The league's annual All-Star Game will be played in Charlotte on Saturday, June 16 with the regular season concluding on Sunday, Sept. 2 at Charlotte.

An affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, the Miracle compete in the South Division along with the Bradenton Marauders (Pittsburgh Pirates), Charlotte Stone Crabs (Tampa Bay Rays), Jupiter Hammerheads (Florida Marlins), Palm Beach Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals) and St. Lucie Mets (New York Mets).

The North Division consists of the Brevard County Manatees (Milwaukee Brewers), Clearwater Threshers (Philadelphia Phillies), Daytona Cubs (Chicago Cubs), Dunedin Blue Jays (Toronto Blue Jays), Lakeland Flying Tigers (Detroit Tigers) and Tampa Yankees (New York Yankees).
