A speeding motorcyclist is dead after crashing into construction barrels on the Cape Coral Bridge early Tuesday morning.
The crash knocked the motorcyclist into the Caloosahatchee River. Emergency responders took a boat out and located the body in the water and took it to shore.
Deputies responded to the crash at 2:35 a.m. and turned the investigation over to the Lee County Sheriff's Office Traffic Homicide Unit. The investigation shows the motorcyclist sped through the SunPass lane travelling westbound between 90 and 100 mph prior to striking the construction equipment.
The victim is identified as Tiler Hood, 21, of St. James City. Deputies had to shut down the westbound lanes of the bridge for more than three hours.
Officers are still investigating.
