"We were thrilled with the turn out, as was the
Dunes," said Bridgit Stone-Budd, director of
marketing for Sanibel & Captiva Islands
Chamber of Commerce that co-hosted the event.
"Plans were for 800."
The fireworks show at dusk was presented by
the Zambelli brothers, whose long experience on
Sanibel enabled them to create a show that was
bigger than ever. As the fireworks began lighting
up the night sky, crowds enjoyed the view from
the Dunes, on the Causeway and boats on the
water. The community event included a wide
variety of grilled food, a full bar, music and a
dance floor. Children enjoyed face painting, a
giant slide, swimming and competitions, raffles
and games.
The Sanibel Captiva Chamber arranged the
Fourth of July fireworks to be sponsored by local
individuals and businesses. As silver sponsors,
members of the San-Cap Chamber said they were
"delighted with the amazing fireworks display."
"Because of this year's exposure, thanks to
Hillgate Communications, next year can only be
bigger and better," said Stone-Budd.
