On Oct. 26-27, the Florida Lighthouse Association (FLA) will hold its annual meeting at the Sanibel Community Center.
The mission of the FLA is to preserve, protect and restore the 30 remaining historic lighthouses of Florida so they can be enjoyed by future generations. Over the past year, FLA has given more than $100,000 in grants to Florida lighthouses for preservation and restoration projects.
The Sanibel Lighthouse will be open on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. for FLA members to climb. Due to insurance requirements anyone who wants to climb the Lighthouse must join FLA and attend the meeting on Oct. 27.
