Sally Keil Walker, 59 of Catkin drive in South Burlington, Vt., died unexpectedly at her home on Dec. 13, 2012.
She was born on May 6, 1953 in Erie, Pa., the daughter of B.J. Walker and Barbara Harter Walker. She attended local Erie schools before furthering her education at the Newport School, Green Mountain College and Mercyhurst College where she studied art and early childhood education.
Upon graduating from college Sally worked as a pre-school teacher in Erie before moving to Burlington in the late 1970s. In Burlington Sally worked in retail and volunteered at South Burlington Elementary School. She was a member of All Saints Church where she enjoyed participating as a lay reader. For years she was a regular volunteer for the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf. She also organized the All Saints Church's food drive for donations to the Food Shelf. Recently she had begun volunteering at the Root Center helping to grow food for the Emergency Food Shelf.

In her youth Sally loved to alpine ski and horseback ride. She spent many winter weekends traveling with her family to her favorite ski area, Holiday Valley, located in Western New York.
In recent years she enjoyed traveling and visiting her mother in Sanibel, Fla., during the winter.
She is survived by her mother Barbara Walker, brothers John Walker and David Walker, his wife Nancy Babcock and their son Kyler Walker; her cousins Phillip and Linda Becker; Bob and Cathy Becker and their children Rob and Katie. She is fondly remembered by her close and special friends Pam and Chuck Opferman and their son Brad. She is predeceased by her father B.J. Walker.
Visiting hours were held Dec. 21 followed by a service at the Ready Funeral Home.
