A fund-raiser will be held at Miceli's Restaurant next weekend to raise money for Wounded Warrior Anglers, so the non-profit organization can continue to take wounded warriors out on fishing outings.
Grayson Rogers Band and Ground Zero will perform during the event on Jan. 13 from noon-4 p.m. The afternoon will also include a couple of raffle items and 50/50s. Wounded Warrior white logo T-shirts and Breathe Like a Fish long sleeve shirts in pink, tan cameo, blue and silver will be for sale during the event.
Participants also will have the opportunity to win a rod and reel during the event. Tickets are $2 each or three for $5.
Tickets for an 18-foot Nautic Star, 1810 Nautic Bay boat, courtesy of the owner of Fort Myers Marine, also will be for sale during the event. Tickets are $20 a piece or six for $100. The actual boat that will be given to the winner will be out back at Miceli's during the event.
The boat, which is 18-feet 2-inches long with a 7-foot 8-inch beam, includes a 90-horsepower, four-stroke Yamaha with a magic tilt trailer. The 1810 Nautic Bay also has a 35-gallon fuel capacity.
The Nautic Star product is about 10 years old and is ranked seventh in fiberglass boats for the whole United States and fourth in Florida in sales.
David and Judy Souders, founders of Wounded Warrior Anglers, wanted to thank Erin Brophy for all of her dedication and hard work of organizing the event. The couple would also like to thank the Miceli brothers for allowing them to have the event at their restaurant.
David said the money that is raised during the event, as well as the proceeds from the boat raffle, will go directly back into the organization to help wounded warriors.
"You can see where your donations go while you are here," Judy said.
Miceli's is at 3930 Pine Island Road, Matlacha.
