Blues Festival benefits Golisano music program

The Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida is one of three beneficiaries from the 7th annual Bonita Blues Festival to be held on March 8-9 at Riverside Park in Bonita Springs.

The festival is a two-day musical event, featuring award-winning blues artists from around the country and a wide variety of food and other vendors.

Besides the music therapy program at Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida, proceeds also benefit Bonita Springs Assistance Office and Music for Minors Foundation, Inc.

Gates at the park for the festival open at 1:30 p.m. on March 8 and 11 a.m. on March 9.

National blues bands set to perform on Friday are the legendary Jimmy Thackery; Southern Hospitality featuring JP Soars; Damon Fowler and Victor Wainwright; and The Reba Russell Band. The local favorites starting the show on Friday are Big Buck & the Biscuit Boys and The Certified Band.

The National blues bands performing on Saturday include Chicago's favorite, Lil' Ed and the Blues Imperials, Lil Ronnie & the Grand Dukes, Biscuit Miller & the Mix and Skyla Burrell. The local favorites showing on Saturday are The Juice Blues Band, Deb & The Dynamics and the Cracker Blues Band.

Tickets to the festival are $30 in advance for a weekend pass. Tickets at the gate are $20 on Friday, $25 on Saturday or $40 for the weekend.
