The last Saturday of every month from now through May 25 the Sanibel Recreation Center is offering a free water safety class from 11-11:30 a.m.
The purpose of this free course is to provide drowning prevention education to the public. Drowning is the second-leading cause of death in children ages 1-14 in the United States.
The 30-minute classroom session will cover topics such as supervising children around water, developing an emergency action plan and the importance of sun safety.
All ages are welcome. Participants will receive water safety information booklets and door prizes.
