The Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife re-opened its Visitors Education Center March 19 following a closure due to a lapse in Workers' Compensation Insurance coverage.

"The VEC was closed for seven days that would normally be open during this busy

season; however, our wildlife rehabilitation

hospital remained open and accepted

patients as usual with no compromise in the

quality of care provided," said John

Schubert, CROW board president.

"We deeply appreciate the hard work of

our students, volunteers, and volunteer veterinarians

who did a great job managing the

demands of the hospital during this difficult

period. As is so often the case, CROW's

volunteers made the difference," concluded

Schubert.

As to the lapse in insurance coverage

Schubert said, "Now that our primary

objective of being re-opened has been

achieved, we will continue to research what

happened between CROW and the insurance

company that led to this lapse; it certainly

wasn't our intention to operate without

insurance."

CROW's Visitor Education Center,

3883 Sanibel-Captiva Rd., is open Tuesday

through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Live educational presentations are at 11 a.m.

daily.
