The Indigo Trail at the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel will be closed due to construction of the new Children's Education boardwalk.
The hiking and biking trail will close on Tuesday, April 2 through Friday, April 5. It will reopen for Saturday and Sunday visitors April 6-7. The trail will close again from Monday, April 8 through Wednesday, April 10 to complete the work.
Unless there are unforeseen delays, the trail will repoen on Thursday, April 11.
The new boardwalk will link the Sanibel School with the Indigo Trail and offer school children and visitors the opportunity to climb a two-story pavilion and observation tower to view alligators and other wildlife safely. Construction of the boardwalk will be completed this summer.
