Martha Jane Linton Whitehouse, age 88, of Sanibel Island, passed away on April 24. She is a graduate of the Park School, Cleveland, Ohio, and Wells College, Aurora, N.Y., where she served with distinction on the board of trustees from 1995-2001 and as an honorary trustee since 2008.
Martha set a wonderful example for her family and all who knew and loved her. A math teacher; a genealogist and author of "Descendants of Elijah Partridge and Prudence Brown;" a long-time volunteer at the Western Reserve Historical Society in Cleveland, Ohio, and United Way of Greater Cleveland; and a devoted amateur naturalist.
Beloved wife of 64 years to Hugh L. Whitehouse, who predeceased her in 2010. Dear mother of Katherine Whitehouse (John Butler), Daniel Whitehouse (Shelley Stevens), Stephen Whitehouse (Anne), and David Whitehouse; grandmother of Sarah Butler Jessen (Paul), Elizabeth Butler Everitt (Jonathan), David Butler, and Claire Whitehouse; great-grandmother of Lily and Samuel Jessen; sister of Dr. Donald S. Linton (Mary Ann) of Sanibel.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, to Donald and Martha Linton.
