20th Islands Night rain free

May 18, 2013
By JIM LINETTE (jlinette@breezenewspapers.com) , Island Reporter, Captiva Current, Sanibel-Captiva Islander

Except for the fact the Fort Myers Miracle lost the game 5-4 with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning, the 20th anniversary Islands Night at Hammond Stadium will be remembered as one of the best ever.

It was a perfect night (May 15) for a ballgame, some good food and socializing with friends.

And there was no rain in sight.

The customary large contingent of islanders from Sanibel and Captiva "evacuated" their little piece of paradise to mingle and entertain both themselves and the rest of the announced crowd of more than 4,600 milling around the stadium.
