Road closures during July 4 parade

July 2, 2013
Island Reporter, Captiva Current, Sanibel-Captiva Islander

Sanibel Police Chief William Tomlinson has issued a traffic alert for Thursday, July 4, for the annual Independence Day Parade on Sanibel.

Tomlinson said the following roads will be closed from 9:15 a.m. until approximately 11 a.m. during the parade: Tarpon Bay Road between West Gulf Drive and Periwinkle Way; Periwinkle between Casa Ybel Road and Tarpon Bay Road; and portions of Dunlop and Palm Ridge roads. The roads will reopen immediately following the parade.

Motorists are reminded to expect delays and be on high alert for parade floats, parade attendees, pedestrians and cyclists around the area of the parade and along the parade route. Please be courteous to parade participants and spectators. Water guns will not be permitted along the parade route as water ruins cell phones and other electronic devices

For more information on road closings call (239) 472-3111.
