Sanibel goes crazy over Halloween

Lower humidity levels, an end to daily downpours and cooler morning temperatures signal the approach of fall in Southwest Florida. That also means three days of Halloween - Sanibel style.

The Community House is just one of the many places to be on Sanibel to enjoy Halloween treats and costume fun. It's time for the 10th annual Family Fall Carnival on Thursday, Oct. 31 (5-7 p.m.), for a safe and fun experience for the entire family.

Spooks and goblins can enjoy candy, games, prizes, crafts, and food and beverages at family-friendly prices. The experience wouldn't be complete without a Billy's Hay Ride, courtesy of Billy's Bike Rentals.

Volunteers will be on hand to make sure everyone's evening is fantastically fun.

Everyone, not just kids, is encouraged to wear Halloween garb to be judged and awarded multiple prizes throughout the night.

Admission to the carnival is one bag of Halloween candy per family. For more information or to volunteer or sponsor the event call 472-2155.

Thriller Halloween Party: Celebrate Halloween beachside at Sundial Beach Resort. Haven't had enough of Halloween yet, the resort is where you want to be on Friday, Nov. 1 (7-10 p.m.). Don't be frightened if a surprise guest appears.

Enjoy spooky finger food and beverages on Sundial's pool deck by Turtle's Pool & Beach Bar. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes. Masquerade Costume Shop will assist with costume rentals 3-7 p.m. at the resort, 1451 Middle Gulf Drive.

It's all for a good cause, too. All admission proceeds go to FISH of Sanibel. Admission for adults is $15, kids admitted for $5 or five cans of food.

Spooktacular: Calling all ghouls, goblins, witches, superheroes, and princesses to Zebra Frozen Yogurt's first Spooktacular Halloween Party, 4-5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 31.

Games, face painting, giveaways, candy, frozen yogurt specials and the highly anticipated costume contest are among the activities.

The winner of the costume contest receives a Zebra $25 gift card and Zebra merchandise. Other games include a bean bag toss, pass the pumpkin, and pin the nose on the pumpkin.

Zebra is located in the Bailey's Center at the corner of Periwinkle Way and Tarpon Bay Road. For more information call 239-579-0860 or log onto www.ZebraFrozenYogurt.com.

Center 4 Life: Goblins luncheon at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30. No "tricks" just "treats." You get a drink, chips and a yummy "halloweenie."

Members are free if they don a Halloween frock.
