"Explore Sanibel Island," an eight-minute film promoting the island's uniqueness, will premiere at BIG ARTS on Oct. 30.
The film was produced by John R. Wood Island Real Estate, Inc., but isn't a real estate video. Professionally produced, it promotes the entirety of Sanibel Island through interviews with Jim Sprankle, wildlife artist; Dr. Bruce Neill, co-founder of Sanibel Sea School; Don Rice, president of the BIG ARTS Board of Directors; Mike Billheimer, owner of the Lighthouse Cafe; and Andrea Miller, director of the Sanibel Recreation Center.
Each of the participating island natives were put on camera and asked about Sanibel, and shared their unique perspectives. The shots switch from one of the subjects being interviewed to the unique thing or place they are talking about.
"I could not have scripted this thing to the effect that these people hit it out of the park," said Joe Mondelli, owner of John R. Wood Island Real Estate, inc. "We are promoting Sanibel, the lifestyle and experience on Sanibel, why people love this place and what it is about Sanibel Island?"
Mondelli said he hopes the film is linked to websites hosted by local businesses, organizations, and the city to showcase the island. The real estate company is also currently in production for an "Explore Captiva Island" short film.
The premiere is on Oct. 30 from 4:30-5:15 p.m. at BIG ARTS on 900 Dunlop Road. A meet and greet is scheduled with refreshments.
