Albert Regan Doyle

Albert Regan Doyle passed from this life at home in the presence of family in Sanibel, Fla., after a long illness on Jan. 23, 2014. Albert, the son of William and Gertrude Maye Doyle, attended Cardinal Hayes High School and then Manhattan College where he was manager of the basketball team. After college he attended New York University Law School and Boston University obtaining a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Laws in Taxation. His early career was with the Internal Revenue Service in Boston, Mass. He then had a long career as Tax Counsel with Texaco in Harrison, N.Y.

Albert served in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1948-1953 and then the Legal Headquarters of the U.S. Army in Orleans, France from 1954-1957.

Albert is survived by his wife Evelyn. The couple was married in Harstad, Norway after meeting in Paris during his military service. They lived in Boston and Valley Cottage, N.Y., before retiring to Sanibel, Fla., in 2000. Albert and Evelyn were married for 57 years.

Survivors include five children, Patricia, Brian, Christine, Theresa, and Stephen; five beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jeffrey Luhnow, Quinn and Brett Kellogg, and Fisher Doyle; and two siblings, Barbara Garrison and Lawrence Doyle. Special thanks to Albert's son Brian who provided care for him at home.

Albert had many interests and hobbies that he pursued throughout his life, not excluding all things Irish. He was an officer of the New York Brehon Law Society pursuing justice for those oppressed in Northern Ireland. Albert also served as a board member and volunteer for F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva. He was an avid reader, historian, writer, and baseball fan who loved his Tampa Bay Rays.

A funeral mass will be at St. Isabel Church Sanibel on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. The mass will be followed by a reception at the church. Interment will occur at Gates of Heaven Cemetery in New York this summer.
