At Lee County Domestic Animal Services you won't find a reality show but you can keep it genuine by adopting a "Real Housepet."

No matter what your personality or lifestyle, LCDAS has a pet for you. Adopt dogs that are energetic, playful, or couch potatoes. Choose a cat that's inquisitive, cuddly, or a constant companion. With reduced adoption fees the entire month of May, that include spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, and much more, it's a real deal.

The adoption fee for cats will be equal to the day of the month. Therefore, adopters can take home a feline companion for $1 on May 1 with the cost increasing by $1 up to $30 on May 30. All dogs 40 pounds and over may be adopted for just $40.

In addition to sterilization and vaccinations, the reduced adoption fees also include a county license, microchip ID, de-worming, flea treatment, a heartworm test for dogs, feline aids and leukemia test for cats, 10-day health guarantee, and behavior helpline. The adoption package is valued at over $500.

Checkout the variety of pets waiting to be adopted online at or head to the shelter at 5600 Banner Drive, Fort Myers, next to the Lee County Sheriff's Office off Six Mile Cypress Parkway. Adoption hours are Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
